Davy’s Summer Vacation

Book six in the Davy series, Davy’s Summer Vacation, is a feel-good book for kids of all ages. Davy’s friend has just returned from a family vacation at the beach and she had a wonderful time. Davy is inspired to have such a vacation and convinces his family to give a try. Unfortunately, the beach is far away and their one tiny wagon isn’t up to the task of carting all their gear. A dream beach vacation seems like a lost cause until Davy remembers something special.
The old school style illustrations are very child-friendly and invoke memories of Winnie the Pooh or the Little Golden Books from my own childhood. The expressive drawings compliment and drive the story. Though geared more toward early readers, as this is a text-heavy picture book, it will be a well requested story-time pick with the Littles. This book has a place in classrooms and home libraries alike. The story shows the value of persistence, self-reliance, and resourcefulness and also beautifully illustrates that one can be happy with what they have even if it isn’t exactly what they wanted.
